EuropeAustria is located towards the middle of Europe and is a landlocked country bordering eight countries. The country comes with a mix of mountains, lakes and beautiful countryside, as well as grand cities such as Vienna and Salzburg. The country has a rich history and has been the birthplace of many famous people, including musicians such as as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, architects such as Friedensreich Hundertwasser and movies stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On this page you will find links to some of the posts I currently have on Austria. Most of them are currently Vienna as I lived here for over a year.

A few useful things to know about Austria:
– The national language is German, although in cities and major tourist spots English is normally ok.
– The currency is Euros.
– Major airports are Vienna International Airport VIE, Salzburg Airport SZG, Innsbruck Airport (INN) and Graz Airport (GRZ).
– For train travel the national service is operated by OEBB. There is also westbahn which offer very affordable tickets towards Salzburg.
– As well as trains and flying you can also drive into the country and use international bus services such as FlixBus.

Vienna is the capital of Austria and located in the North East corner of the country. The city is pristine and romantic, with horse chariots, beautiful streets and architecture and grand palaces.

You can get to Vienna easily by flying into the international airport, by national train, or using a service like Flixbus (link above). Within the city you’ll find tons of great places to stay from beautiful hotelsAirbnb apartments, hostels and other options.

Below you can find my posts on Vienna, including a detailed guide for visiting on a short city break, lesser known things to do around the city, viewpoint, Instagram and photography suggestions and more. If you are visiting Vienna for the first time I recommend reading my post Top Tips if you are Visiting Vienna.
